The Transactions of The American Lodge of Research
The Transactions of the ALR is the annual print publication of the Lodge. It typically, but not exclusively, contains the long-form papers delivered in one of the quarterly Lodge communications throughout the Masonic year, as well as a transcript of questions and answers to the presenter or even a rebuttal or new information concerning the paper being published. Transactions have been printed since the inception of the Lodge and covered material written in the year prior to the Lodge receiving its charter.
The American Lodge of Research welcomes submissions from members and non-members of the Lodge. When submitting a paper to the Master and Secretary, please use the Style Guidelines of The American Lodge of Research (Supplement), as well as The Quarry Project Style Guide for US Masonic Publications (First Edition).
Previous Editions of The Transactions
The ALR occasionally makes past copies of The Transactions of the ALR available to members and subscribers. As these copies are transcribed into a digital format, this website will reflect links to where the purchaser can order a past copy along with details including the authors, volume number and year of publication.
As of December 2021, Freemasons in good standing who are members of the Grand Lodge of New York may access back copies of the Transactions using the Odilio platform made available via the Chancellor Robert R. Livingston Library. Please visit this link for more information about borrowing privileges. Transactions are available with a five-year moratorium. For example, The Transactions printed in 2022 would not be available to non-members until 2027.
